I came up with Mungo King of Hearts as a funding hub for all the defibrillator fundraising efforts, challenges and any future initiatives that will be undertaken in Mungo’s name (see this post for more info).
How Mungo King of Hearts will develop – what it will become – is completely unknown at this juncture, but everyone involved is excited about its potential to evolve into something amazing.
The purpose of this website is to serve as central HQ for everything to do with this important part of his legacy, which I’m sure he would be immensely proud of.

A Challenging Year
In 2023, good friends Sarah Canning and Basia are challenging themselves to complete a year of fundraising activities for their individual causes.
I lost my wonderful Dad & Mum in recent years both to heart related conditions and I am fundraising through completing a ‘year of challenges’ in their memory.
I work at Moorfields Eye Hospital and never fail to be amazed by the determination of so many of my patients who overcome their sight loss and get on with their lives so positively, but access to activities and adventures can be difficult for some.
My future ambition is to become a sighted guide, supporting people with sight loss to participate in swimming, cycling & hiking adventures, & in so doing, become more active, live healthier lives & reduce the risk of heart disease.

In 2017, I lost a very dear friend, Mungo, to undiagnosed heart disease at the ridiculously young age of 48. In his memory, I and some close friends of his created a charitable fund to buy community defibrillators, and set about fundraising. One particularly memorable event involved canoeing/wild camping 100 miles along the river Wye, which Mungo loved.
To date we have bought and installed three defibrillators. The plan is to continue this work, creating a lasting memory and, hopefully, saving many lives.

Our next challenge is a 25k walk on April 1st. Please support us!
